Just wanted to share a quick little tip that I learned reading “The Game” by Neil Strauss back in 2005.
This made such a difference in my game and it’s so simple! Yet it’s one of the hardest things “NOT” to automatically do when you meet a girl. But once I started doing this I noticed my success triple immediately!
These days, I can’t help but notice when my friends make this mistake. I want to grab them and shake them because once you realize it you can’t help but cringe.
What do 99.9% guys do when they FIRST meet a girl? They either ask the girl’s name or worse…they offer
their own name.
“Hi I’m Brad, what’s your name?” Seems innocent enough right? It definitely doesn’t hurt. But it doesn’t help either. And, when you offer her YOUR name when she doesn’t ask it takes away your ability to guage her interest level later.
Let me explain. If you’re talking to a girl for hours, yet she never cares enough to know your name, it tells you she’s just being polite and isn’t curious enough about you to ask…let alone to go on a date.
If you’re talking to her for a while and then she DOES ask…that’s a blatant IOI or indicator of interest! This is really so powerful!
If you make it a point NOT to ask her name the entire time you’re talking to her but focus on making the interaction so interesting that she WANTS to know your name, the whole set will come out better. Plus, once she asks you can escalate to the next level. She gives you an IOI now shift into another gear.
Offering your name before she asks does absolutely no good and only takes away the ability to use that as an IOI later.
Additional benefit, it gives you a short term goal or benchmark in your progress. You go into a set with the
intention of only having her ask your name. You don’t go in with the lofty goal of a phone number or one night stand which will make you more nervous.
Seriously, just try this a few times. It will be uncomfortable the first couple few but when you see how well it works you’ll never offer your name again!
Summary: Make Her Want To Know Your Name. Never offer it!
