A Magical Use Of An iPAD (iOS5)

I found this magician’s great demo video of a magic trick with an iPad.

It’s all sleight of hand and some ingenious programming.  I think the only effect I’m having trouble figuring out is the very last one.

If you have any ideas how he’s doing the last one, with the milk, comment below

Otherwise, sit back and enjoy

*And just FYI, I’m not selling this trick…it’s not mine, you can’t buy it.  It’s just a demo

I guess the last trick is done with a special tumbler: I saw many fake feeding bottles with a double base that, when inclined, made the white liquid disappear. So you can fake to drink the milk. A glass with a similar mechanisms shouldn’t be difficult to build ^_^

What’s about the other tricks? I noticed he’s keeping a hand behind the iPad, probably holding and passing around some tools for the tricks.

Gil, I agree, that’s what I thought, that it’s a gimmicked tumbler. Everything else is sleight of hand.

Yes, Gil is right. I had a trick glass like that when I was a kid. Notice that it he didn’t pour it empty because the “milk” is contained between the walls of the glass.

Milk pouring: he pours the milk, and what we’re seeing is milk poured on a hard plastic (like a teleprompter?) screen (best guess) because he wouldn’t actually pour it on an I-pad safely. Film of the milk hitting that screen is videoed, and video is playing on the I-pad.

Second part of the milk pouring: an assistant pours large quantity (half gallon? gallon?) of milk over the actor on the screen. Again, this is in a video played back on the I-Pad.

It’s all about the timing, we’re seeing a pre-recorded vid of the man seen on the I-pad screen.

For the rest of the trick, getting the milk in the glass to “pour” out without the fluid being visible: Not at all sure how what was done. What are your ideas on that? Oh, now I’ve read the other comments: yes, a trick tumbler would do it.

Yeah I agree with the tumbler or glass. My dad who was a magician forever ago and is jealous at all the cool gadgets I got haha :) has a glass and a pitcher. Used for milk. They used to be very popular back in the day from what he tells me. Great presentation and use of an I pad if he made the routine himself or not I thought it was great.
